Τίτλος Ομιλίας : Multiscale analysis and simulation of a coupled system of bulk–surface PDEs and linear elasticity equations, modelling intercellular processes in biological tissues

Περίληψη : Intercellular signalling processes play crucial role in the interactions and communication between cells in a biological tissue and are involved in all physiological activities of the cells. In the multiscale modelling of intercellular signalling pathways, we consider the dynamics of signalling molecules and cell membrane receptors on the level of a single cell. Using multiscale analysis techniques, we analyse and derive a macroscopic two-scale model of a coupled system of bulk-surface partial differential equations. The two-scale bulk-surface finite element method is used for the approximation and numerical simulation of the macroscopic equations. To analyse the interplay between the chemistry and mechanics, we consider a two-way coupling between the chemical processes and elastic deformations of cells. The analytical and numerical study of the nonlinear coupled system of linear elasticity and bulk–surface reaction–diffusion equations combine the derivation of a priori L∞ estimates with the Banach fixed point theorem.
